Accelerated Recruitment Program (for Experienced Constables or Re-appointees)

Great Pay: For 2 years service $57,263 + 20% consolidated allowance + 5% GD's allowance. For 10 years or more service $65,778 + 20% consolidated allowance + 5% GDs allowance.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the Northern Territory Police Force as an Experienced Constable or as a Re-appointee applicants must meet the following criteria;

  • Have completed two years or more as a Police officer within Australia or New Zealand having obtained the Diploma of Public Safety (Policing), or equivalent.
  • Have currency as a sworn member; if no longer a serving member any break in service will be considered on basis of prior length of service, the duration of the break and nature of employment during that break.
  • Be either an Australian Citizen or have permanent residence status.
  • Possess a current provisional or open manual drivers licence.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain the qualification Apply First Aid (HLTFA301B or HLTFA301C).
  • Have a satisfactory police service record and be of good character (NT Police Integrity Guidelines).
  • Be physically fit and healthy.

Selection Process

If your initial application is approved the following selection processes will apply;

  • Integrity/background checks will be performed to identify any criminal/traffic offences and conduct and complaint history as a serving police officer.
  • Written Assessment
  • Panel Interview
  • Referee Checks
  • Pre-employment medical assessment

Please note candidates who fail to meet the required standards are excluded from submitting an application for a period of 12 months.

Training

The Accelerated Recruitment Program is a ten week paid training course conducted in Darwin at the NTPFES College at Peter McAulay Centre, Berrimah. The course covers an introduction to NT legislation and NT Police policy and procedures, information systems, firearms, operational safety tactics training and includes physical training. After successful completion of the training course members will be posted to one of the four major centres (greater Darwin, Katherine, Tennnant Creek or Alice Springs) as determined in offer of employment.

(Members of the Northern Territory Police Force may be required to serve in any geographical location within the NT where a police presence is required.)

The Accelerated Recruitment Program includes a six month probation period and a requirement that members serve a minimum of twelve months in general duties before being eligible to apply for other positions.
