On Tuesday the 8th of September 2015 Remote Sergeant Nathan Nunn of Mutitjulu Police Station and Senior Constable Benjamin Powell of Yulara Police Station attended Yulara School to provide bicycle safety talks to the students.
Students were divided into Pre-school, Transition, Grade One. Grades Two Three and Grades Four to Eight. Each group was given a safety presentation.
Presentations included a colour in and dot to dot for the younger children identifying what you should wear and what should be on your bike, the two/three class was also given a bike safety word search and shown how to correctly fit a bicycle helmet.
The older grades were shown how to correctly fit a helmet, what safety items should be on a bicycle and how strong a helmet is.
All students at Yulara School were given an opportunity to see the Yulara Police pushbikes and ask any bicycle safety questions.
Yulara Police intend to run further bicycle safety courses to ensure all children are safe when riding pushbikes.
