Elliott School had its ‘Open Day’ on the 18th June, 2014.
By Constable First Class Mark Luppi, Community Engagement Police Officer (CEPO), Barkly Region.
It was a day to celebrate with the students, staff and the community. Organised by Family Educator Amy Redfern; numerous organisations attended to provide support, including the Elliott Police officers - Acting Sergeant Nigel Westerhuis, Senior Constable Lara Asinari, Senior Aboriginal Community Police Officer Daniel Sandy, and Community Engagement Police Officer, Constable First Class Mark Luppi.
During event, Elliott School Principal, Andrew Murray announced that the school was also celebrating 90% student attendance for the last few weeks. This great result has been achieved by the continuous efforts of students, school staff, and parents, Police (via its Police Community Safety Action Plan and monthly meetings), Night Patrol and the recently appointed School Attendance Officers.
Acting Sergeant Nigel Westerhuis was spotted during the event having a chat with School Attendance Officer, Josiah Nussett. Josiah stated he was enjoying his job while helping his community. It was a very successful Community event at Elliott, which brought everybody together.
