Peppimenarti Police members Remote Sergeant Karl Gundersen and Constable Andrew Bravos recently had the privilege of engaging with the community and its children at a much anticipated family friendly event.
The Officers assisted the local primary school with the running of a disco for the children which saw the whole community come together.
A great night was had by all with the school’s principal, Mark Grosser saying that the night was a ripping success.
“The school tries to put something on like this at the end of every term for the students. To have the Police involvement in this one has been fantastic, not only for the children but also for the community as a whole,” he said.
The students danced the night away, laughing and smiling the whole time.
Police members handed out prize packs to those who showed outstanding promise on the dance floor and a fantastic evening was had by all.
Remote Sergeant Gundersen said it was a great evening to have been a part of.
“It really is a fantastic experience when you are working at a remote community such as this and you get to do grass roots policing and interact with the people and their families.
“I personally encourage any members out there to come to places like this and experience it first-hand. It has certainly put things back into perspective for me and I have enjoyed my time out here immensely,” he said.
Overall it was a great evening that saw the community, family and the children all come together for a night of fun, smiles and lots of laughs.
We all look forward to the next instalment of ‘Dancing Under the Stars’ in Peppimenarti.
