It would be an interesting site to see a rhinoceros charging through the streets of Nhulunbuy, yet members from the station have kept the equivalent of this creatures weight from entering the town – that’s 2 tonnes since the start of last year.
“600kg has been seized this year alone,” boasts a very proud Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon.
In mid June Police attended the local airport and conducted searches of baggage which led to the seizure of more than 30kg of kava in just two suitcases. Two offenders were arrested and charged with offences including possess and supply trafficable quantity of kava.
“ The efforts of the team here at Nhulunbuy has been amazing as well as help from SAID, Remote Drug Desk and other members who have left but are still able to provide ongoing intel,” Snr Sgt Muldoon said.
Well Done Nhulunbuy Police!
