UPDATE - Call for Witnesses – Robbery – Fannie Bay

Thursday 03-Jan-2019 11:50

Northern Territory Police have renewed their call for information about an alleged robbery in Fannie Bay last week.

Officers are investigating after a taxi driver had his cash and car stolen and was assaulted during the incident.

The taxi was driven through several suburbs and later crashed into a guard rail in Winnellie.

“Two offenders have been arrested and a third person has been assisting police with the investigation,” Senior Constable Kevin Carr said.

The two men charged with aggravated robbery and other traffic offences have been remanded in custody to face the Darwin Local Court on 27 February.

Senior Constable Carr thanked witnesses who have come forward with information about the crash, however they’re still appealing for information from anyone who saw the assault and theft of the taxi at Fannie Bay on Thursday, 27 December.

“Detectives believe there are still a significant number of witnesses who were at the Fannie Bay shopping centre at the time who have not yet spoken to police.

“We’re urging anyone who may have seen the assault and theft of the taxi to get in touch with our investigators.”

Members of the public who can assist police with their enquiries are urged to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
