Missing Person Investigation - Richard Roe

Wednesday 18-Jul-2018 07:59

Richard Ken Roe would have turned 42 years old today. His parents and family will reflect on his life this week, not knowing what has become of their son, brother, cousin and friend.

Richard was reported missing by his mother on 22 November 2016.  His blue Holden Commodore station wagon was found abandoned on the side of the Stuart Highway near Chinner Road (Lake Bennett) on 4 November 2016.  Richard’s bank account hasn’t been touched since late October 2016.

Police established Operation Zuma to investigate Richard’s disappearance in 2016.

Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys from the Major Crime Squad said Richard was known to police and was heavily involved in the supply and use of drugs in Darwin.

“Richard’s lifestyle was risky and he mixed in local drug circles. He had been in and out of gaol and had an addiction to methamphetamine.

“It is highly likely Richard was murdered and police will continue to investigate his suspicious disappearance.

“We believe more than one person knows what happened to Richard, It’s a big secret to keep. We only need one person to come forward and disclose what they know.

“Operation Zuma detectives will visit and revisit locals who we believe are associated with the Darwin drug scene in our efforts to provide closure to Richard’s family,” Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys said.

“If you know something about Richard’s disappearance, police urge you to come forward.”
