Investigators from Strike Force Trident and General Duties Officers have arrested six youths, aged 12 to 17, after three unlawful entries and a pursuit in a stolen vehicle last night.

The four males and two females allegedly stole a Mazda 2 hatchback from a Nightcliff residence before allegedly committing unlawful entries in two businesses in Winnellie and one in Woolner.

The three businesses were entered after the youths allegedly smashed glass doors and windows. It is believed no items of value were stolen.

The vehicle was later observed by Trident officers travelling inbound on Roystonea Avenue and Tiger Brennan Drive. After being followed, the driver of the vehicle attempted evasion and was subsequently pursued over a short distance, coming to a stop in a dead-end street in Hidden Valley. It is alleged the driver then reversed at speed, narrowly missing an officer who had alighted from a vehicle to apprehend the youths, before accelerating in a failed attempt to drive through a fence.

Officers were able to successfully extract five youths from the body of the car and one from the boot. They were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for examination and were declared fit for custody.
