Update - Call for witnesses - Pursuit - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 25-year-old male who is alleged to have led police on a pursuit on 6 December 2018.

Executing a search warrant in a Darwin city apartment last Friday, members of the Drug and Organised Crime Division (DOCD) located a sawn-off .308 bolt action rifle, along with tools and other items allegedly used to illegally alter the firearm.

The male was located yesterday at a residence in Wanguri and arrested. His vehicle, the Holden Caprice allegedly involved with the pursuit, was seized for 48 hours under anti-hooning legislation.

DOCD members also located at the Wanguri property $19,500 in cash, four mobile phones, 9000 unused gel caps, 9000 unused deal bags and approximately 25 rounds of various ammunition. Investigations involving the supply of dangerous drugs are ongoing.

The male was charged with:

  • Dangerous Driving during pursuit
  • Fail to stop vehicle when called upon
  • Alter firearm so it changes class
  • Fail to meet storage requirements
  • Fail to secure firearm

He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 8 January 2019.
