Multiple Charges – Ali Curung

Northern Territory Police have charged four males for their alleged involvement in two disturbances in Ali Curung.

Acting Superintendent Pauline Vicary said that the disturbances occurred on the 18 and 24 April, 2017.

A 16-year-old male was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Armed in public (x2)
  • Violent conduct preventing police at riot
  • Unlawfully damage property (x2)

A 16-year-old male was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Armed in public

A 17-year-old male was charged with:

  • Unlawfully cause serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Arson
  • Violent conduct preventing police at riot
  • Armed in public
  • Damage property (x2)

A 15-year-old male was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault (x2)
  • Violent conduct preventing police at riot
  • Arson
  • Damage property (x2)
  • Armed in public (x2)

The youths were remanded in custody to appear in the Tennant Creek Local Court today.

“Since 19 April, 2017 16 people have been charged in relation to the disturbances in Ali Curung. 12 people have been remanded in custody, four people have been issued with infringement notices, six youths have been put forward for youth diversion, two people have been issued with a Notice to Appear in court and three people were apprehended for protective custody,” said Acting Superintendent Pauline Vicary.
