Strike Force Romulus Charge Two - Alice Springs

Strike Force Romulus has charged two people in separate incidents relating to domestic and family violence yesterday.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said safety is everyone’s right and Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach in targeting domestic and family violence offenders in this region.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in relation to several alleged assaults upon his wife in March and April this year.

The man was charged with:
Aggravated assault-harm x 2
Breach DVO – Full Non-Contact x 3
Fail to obey police direction to stop
Unlicensed driverExceed speed 15-30kmp/h

He was refused bail and will appear before the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

In a separate incident officers have charged a 19-year-old female with the alleged assault of her 4-year-old daughter in Alice Springs yesterday.

The woman has been remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Police would like to acknowledge the courage of people who saw the offending behaviour and determined Police intervention was required.

“The impact of domestic and family violence is widespread; children, families and communities are affected.  Police make no apology for actively targeting offenders who use violence against their loved ones.

“Domestic and family violence will not be tolerated and we encourage members of the public to take a stand against this unacceptable behaviour and report all acts of domestic and family violence to the Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.
