Volunteer operations

NTES volunteers are relied upon to respond to a wide range of natural and human-made emergency and disaster situations in the Territory. In many of our smaller communities they are the foundation of any emergency response.

Our volunteers work alongside and offer support to other emergency organisations such as Police and Fire and Rescue services.  The commitment of NTES volunteers to Northern Territory communities is highly valued and considered a vital resource in times of emergency.

NTES Volunteers may become involved in preparing for and responding to many different types of disasters and emergencies including:

  • Cyclones
  • Floods
  • Earthquakes
  • Road crash rescue
  • Air search
  • Vertical rescue
  • Storm/severe weather damage

Members also assist other emergency services with the provision of:

  • Emergency lighting
  • Crime scene/forensic searches
  • Emergency communications
  • Emergency Operations Centre staffing
