Lajamanu Volunteer Unit

Lajamanu is located at the south eats corner of Hooker Creek Reserve, some 900 kilometres south of Darwin.

The Lajamanu NTES Volunteer Unit is responsible for the Lajamanu Police District. The District covers an area of 34,000 square kilometres.

The general topography of the district consists of varying areas of saltbush, desert flats and scrubby woodland areas. The area varies from sea level to 520m in the Ware Mountain Range and includes part of the Tanami Desert.

The Lajamanu Volunteer Unit falls under the control of the NTES Northern Region. Currently the Unit has around 11 dedicated members trained in a variety of emergency skills.

The Unit carries out the full range of normal Emergency Service tasks and holds equipment for response to Road Crash Rescue incidents.

The Unit Headquarters is located at Lajamanu Police Station.
