Local Counter Disaster Planning Committee
Local Counter Disaster Planning Committees (LCDPC) exist throughout the Northern Territory and are an integral part of our ability to prevent, prepare, respond and recover from emergencies within our communities.
LCDPC members come from Territory and local government departments, private businesses and emergency management volunteer organisations. This webpage has been established to provide information and support to these members.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES) recommends that LCDPC members complete the following introductory online courses. This training will provide you with an overview of the Northern Territory Counter Disaster Arrangements and the Incident Control System utilised during emergency operations.
Nationally Recognised Emergency Management Training
The Australian Emergency Management Institute (AEMI) provides nationally recognised emergency management training for people approved by the State or Territory Nominating Authority.
If you are interested in further emergency management training you should speak with the Executive Officer of your Local Counter Disaster Planning Committee to establish what courses would be suitable for you. You should then consult with the Territory Nominating Authority prior to submitting an application through the AEMI website.
Please be aware that your agency will be responsible for all course fees and associated costs, including airfares. AEMI will provide subsidies for emergency management volunteers and local government employees.
For further information visit the AEMI webpage.
