Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES) Information Access Team

The primary function of the Information Access Team is to coordinate the permissible release of information to the public and to commercial entities that use police information.

The Information Access Team is also responsible for the release of information to:

  • Territory Insurance Office pursuant to the Motor Accident Compensation Act.
  • Crime Victims Services Unit pursuant to the Victims of Crime Assistance Act.
  • Other government and non government bodies under various Statutory Authorities and Legislation.
  • Management of NTPFES Privacy Complaints

The following information will enable members of the public to determine the type of information they are seeking access to, and the appropriate form/s and supporting documentation that are required for each type of request in order for it to be processed.

Please read the following information carefully to ensure that you are using the correct form for your request and that you supply all the necessary information to enable faster processing of your application.

Working with children clearance (Ochre Card)

Should you wish to apply for an OCHRE Card you must do so by contacting SAFE NT on 1800 723 368 /Police/Community-safety/SAFE-NT.aspx

National police certificate/criminal history check

Should you wish to apply for a Criminal History Check, you must do so by contacting SAFE NT on 1800 723 368 or you can visit their website at /Police/Community-safety/SAFE-NT.aspx

Payment options

The following payment options are available when applying for access to information held by NTPFES where a fee is applicable.


Bank Transfer via Internet or Telephone Banking – only within Australia

Description: Applicant’s/Your Name – Appropriate ledger code

You must also attach a copy of the transfer confirmation to this application form and send it to the Information Access Team at NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services.


Credit Card – this method is available to all applicants however, this is the only method of payment accepted for overseas customers

Credit card payments can be made to the Receiver of Territory Monies (RTM) over the telephone or by email.

You must advise the RTM what you are paying for and advise them to apply general ledger codes which are outlined on your application form.

The RTM will send you a receipt via email and you must attach a copy of the receipt to your application and send it to the Information Access Team at NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services.

Cheque / Money Order

Cheques and money orders should be made payable to the Receiver of Territory Monies (RTM) and sent with the completed application form to the Information Access Section of NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services.

You must send proof of payment with your application or it will not be processed.
